Total Finder problem

Hi,

I had total finder working just fine it seemed on a nMP with Yosemite 10.10.3. Then I installed “ShowAllFiles.app” and ran that interface. I clicked on show all files and saw all the hidden gems in my boot disk. I clicked on “Hide Files” and Total Finder stopped working. I reinstalled and the icon is in Applications but no tab in prefs, no icon in upper right quick launch. Trying to start Total Finder from the applications folder does nothing??

Any ideas??

It is hard to say what went wrong.

Have you observed Console.app when launching /Applications/TotalFinder.app?
Also maybe first kill Finder.app via CMD+OPT+ESC.

btw. TotalFinder already has the feature to toggle hidden files on/off.

I’m embarrassed to say, but I don’t know how to use Console. I see that it has a lot of log data and accessing total finder from applications does not seem to do anything. Interesting to note is that I have app cleaner installed and when I tried to delete total finder ( figuring a reinstall might fix it), app cleaner would not delete it. This leads me to believe total finder is still running but again, I have no tabs, no quick access icon in the upper right task at, no total finder prefs in the finder prefs…
I removed the showAllFiles app and then went poking around and don’t know where to start ??

/Applications/Utilities/Console.app -> All Messages, filter view by the keyword “Finder”

Then CMD+OPT+ESC and kill Finder.app, then start /Applications/Finder.app again

OK… Here is what I got… This is my whole session. Booted into Yosemite 10.10.3 and opened Console and restarted Finder…

Well… I decided to download Total Finder again and install it… That didn’t work but when it re-launched I got a notification that a new version is available (1.6.27) so I DL’ed that one and let it install. Now it works?? Strange…

yes, the installation was corrupted somehow.

Unable to locate the shell bundle: /Library/ScriptingAdditions/TotalFinder.osax/Contents/Resources/TotalFinder.bundle

I figured this line in Console was the issue so I went into the Library/scriptingadditions folder and there was no TotalFinder.Bundle
That is why I reinstalled again which, as I posted, fixed the install. Thank you !!
