Closing an Emacs window causes TotalSpaces to jump to a different space

I love TotalSpaces. There is just one minor issue with Emacs.

I can create multiple Emacs windows (with the ‘make-frame’ command), and put them in different Spaces. When I close an Emacs window, TotalSpaces jumps me to another Space that still contains an Emacs window.

This behavior is pretty annoying, and doesn’t happen with other multi-window apps (e.g. Chrome, Terminal). I would be willing to post a bounty to get this fixed, if that would help.

Thank you for all your hard work on TotalSpaces. It’s tremendous.

My Emacs version: GNU Emacs 24.3.1 (x86_64-apple-darwin, NS apple-appkit-1038.36) of 2013-03-13 on

I think it’s ‘Emacs-24.3-universal-10.6.8.dmg’ from

Probably emacs is focussing the next open window when one is closed, and this is causing the system to request a space change.

So I think it’s likely something that needs to be fixed in emacs.

Ok, that seems possible. I’ll look into things from the Emacs end first.

Thank you for your reply, and for a tremendous product,
