I would like to be able to swap the actions of pressing ‘return’ and ‘fn + return’. Basically I want to press enter to open a file, and another key (like fn+enter or cmd+o) to rename it.
Xtrafinder has this functionality worked out pretty well (screenshot of preferences here)
