Total Spaces/os x mail not working well together in Mavericks

Updated to latest version tonight, 2.0.17 ,and the MAIL freezing is back. Re entered the terminal command but did not solve problem.

Oh, that’s unexpected, I’ll look at exactly what changed (I don’t think there were any related changes, but I may have missed something). I’ll get back to you asap.

I confess I am baffled - there was no changes around the code that I added to help your situation.

I presume you were on 2.0.10.

I recommend you uninstall TotalSpaces2 (so you can install an earlier version) http://downloads.binaryage.com/TotalSpaces2Uninstaller.zip

Then install v2.0.10
http://downloads.binaryage.com/TotalSpaces2-2.0.10.zip

If you have time to help me figure this out, it would be great if you can try to increase the installation version 1 by 1 until the problem re-appears. So install and test these in order:

http://downloads.binaryage.com/TotalSpaces2-2.0.11.zip
http://downloads.binaryage.com/TotalSpaces2-2.0.12.zip
http://downloads.binaryage.com/TotalSpaces2-2.0.13.zip

(there was no 14)

http://downloads.binaryage.com/TotalSpaces2-2.0.15.zip
http://downloads.binaryage.com/TotalSpaces2-2.0.16.zip
http://downloads.binaryage.com/TotalSpaces2-2.0.17.zip

I should then be able to see which changes actually did it. Thank you!

Even 2.0.10 causes the MAIL freezing now. I then uninstalled and tried that earlier version 2.0.08, but same thing. I’m baffled as well, as both of these versions worked before.

Baffled indeed. I would uninstall, then install 2.0.10, then restart your machine just to be sure.

If that doesn’t help, then I’ll need to figure out some kind of debugging build for you to try, so I can figure out what’s going on.

By the way, you can check the log (in Console.app) to find out what version of the plugin is loading - like this line from my log:

Ok, that’s version 2.0.17 of the plugin - did you uninstall and go bak to version 2.0.10? I’m just wondering if the uninstallation is not working for you.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay, I’ve been off sick.

So the current situation is that you are running 2.0.10 and it exhibits the undesirable behaviour ?

I notice from your logs you have the following plugin programs installed:

QXPScriptingAdditions
Satimage
List & Record Tools
MAPLAddition
YouHelper

These are either installed in /Users/randallm/Library/ScriptingAdditions or /Library/ScriptingAdditions

I don’t know what these are, but I would recommend moving them out of the way (drag them to your desktop or somewhere) then restarting TotalSpaces to see if it makes any difference. There is every chance that one of them is interfering with TotalSpaces.

If it turns out to have no effect, you can move them back.

Did as you suggested. No difference. Mail still freezing up.

Hi, I’ve been thinking about this a bit over the weekend. It makes no sense really.
Even when we put exactly the same files back, the behaviour is not the same. It’s frustrating.

I’m really sorry, I can’t reproduce it, and I just don’t know why this is. My best guess was some other scripting addition doing something strange, but it appears not.

BTW, if you bought a license I am happy to refund it - clearly it’s not working as it should for you.
