TotalSpaces2 status under macOS 10.12 (Sierra)

Cool Stephen, installing now, many thx. Will report back if relevant. Best

Still no luck for me on PB3 (16A270F) :frowning: App starts but can’t create Spaces, all 16 are assigned but nothing works

Hi Stephen, just installed Sierra beta 5 10.12 (16A286a) today August 9th:
totalspaces causes a finder non clickable situation, need to quit just after launch.
So, I can’t use it anymore at this stage.
Any idea on what’s going on?
Thx, hangloose

Will investigate, thanks for the info.

Likewise, just installed 10.12 Public Beta (16A286a) and Total Spaces stopped working. A fix would be highly appreciated!

This version should work on beta 5:

http://downloads.binaryage.com/TotalSpaces2-2.4.3.dmg

Known issue: The space backgrounds look wrong in some cases in the overview grid when using the Lo res setting. Mission control suffers the same problem, so I’m not going to look at fixing this until the next beta.

And again no luck for me on 16A286a…can’t create any Desktop (Could not create all requested desktops. The system limit is 16 (plus specials)), TS freezes every time… :frowning: Same problem as on any other former beta of sierra…
I see the same as squinxy in his post from Jul 10th…

Hi Stephen, just great (!) it works again for me on beta 5; I’m back to work ++.
Many thx for your reactivity,I hope our feed-backs help.
Have a nice day.

macOS Sierra beta 5
TotalSpaces2-2.4.3.dmg

When transitions are turned off, there are still sliding transitions.

@Fear Yes, thanks for the feedback again, will try to figure out why.
@RaphyRaph Seems there is a problem with patching dock, can you confirm you are running 16A286a ?

Tried TotalSpaces2-2.4.3.dmg on 16A286a

The transition thing has been fixed

Any news on this?

I did look at it, but I’m still unsure what the problem is (and why it appears for you and not me).

Can you check in Console.app if anything useful appears when you start TotalSpaces, and when you try to do the operation that fails.

You will find it useful to filter for TotalSpaces and Dock otherwise the quantity of messages is overwhelming.

maybe the following will help

lots of exceptions like:
Standard 08:39:51.737272 +0200 TotalSpaces2 CSSM Exception: -2147411889 CSSMERR_CL_UNKNOWN_TAG
Standard 08:39:55.856298 +0200 TotalSpaces2 Failed to register connection
Standard 08:39:59.856869 +0200 TotalSpaces2 Connecting Dock, backoff: 8
Standard 08:39:51.685782 +0200 TotalSpaces2 UNIX error exception: 17
Standard 08:39:51.686465 +0200 TotalSpaces2 UNIX error exception: 17
Standard 08:39:51.686558 +0200 TotalSpaces2 CSSM Exception: -2147415792 CSSMERR_CSP_INVALID_KEY

These messages tell that TS cannot communicate with the Dock plugin. (Although I don’t know the reason for the UNIX and CSSM messages, but they aren’t my main concern.)

Anything messages from Dock when you start TS? The plugin is failing to install for some reason.

yes…

Interesting… Can you paste here what running

csrutil status

in Terminal.app tells you?

sure… system integrity protection status: enabled

Aha, ok that’s the problem - you would need to partially disable SIP, here’s how: http://totalspaces.binaryage.com/elcapitan

What is interesting is that TotalSpaces2 was unable to detect that you had SIP fully enabled, so I will need to fix that issue.

Can i enabe full SIP again after installation of TS?
