There is a checkbox option in BetterSnapTool called “restore old window size if window is dragged away again”. This function does not work with Totalfinder. It works fine with any other app window but once I try to do this with the Totalfinder’s Finder window, it doesn’t work at all. If I turn off Totalfinder and perform this with regular Finder windows, it works fine.
This comes down to how BetterSnapTool is identifying the window (or not in this case). For comparison, Cinch works just fine. I encourage you to contact the developer of BTT to let them know they aren’t identifying TotalFinder windows correctly.
