I can confirm that even with these permissions set, the lag is still there. I’ve even pushed it to 11 by setting all of the motion and transitions to 0 or as fast as they can go with their respective defaults write commands across the various services, for example:

I think we might be talking about 2 different things. The permissions don’t require SIP to be disabled, they are just normal MacOS permissions.

Manually adding both fixes the “The lag is long enough to see the desktop wallpaper preview before for a second before being replaced with the actual desktop.” issue for me.

Hi Ben, I already have those permissions added. Everywhere a permission has been added, I have allowed it. Still the same however, very laggy to redraw the file contents on my desktop (not the wallpaper). No idea if the number of items on the desktop can affect this lag.

Re SIP, I never re-enabled this anyway so don’t think this has any bearing on the issues I have experienced.

Is anybody else using an external display as well as their laptop screen? And experiencing the other issue I mention above? Every time I’m away from the laptop, when I return I have to close and reopen TS3.

Do you use your laptop screen at the same time? And if so, do you have a screen saver set or battery/power option to switch off the laptop screen after a given time of inactivity? The issue I have seems to be triggered by the laptop display being turned off after x mins and so the external display also losing signal. On return, if I try my to navigate around my grid of desktops on the external display, the preview of this transition (basic with no transition effects) is anchored to the bottom left corner of the laptop screen and overflows into the external screen.

I’ve been using TS since the very beginning, thank you!

I see that you have answered “Yes” several times to folks asking if TS3 will work with Intel Macs running Monterey; however, when I tried to install TS3 on my Intel Mac running Monterey, it said the it was not compatible with my machine. Is there a reason I’m getting this error? Have all 100 licenses already been handed out?

Any help it greatly appreciated, as I can’t live without TS. For now, I will downgrade to Big Sur.

Like many here, I’ve been using TS since the beginning. Happy to test this out and also pay a handsome fee when you release it. It’s damn near impossible for me to use a mac without it. I feel hamstrung.

Hey, thank you for this alpha version, trying it right now!

Noticed two thins:

A half-a-second delay between changes of spaces.
So let’s say I have a 3x3, and I am using the top-left desktop. If I want to go to the top-right one, I have to move one to the right, wait for this half-a-second to then move right again. If I give two “move right” inputs, it will move only one, I have to wait for this delay to finish. I have double-checked permissions and tried the defaults suggested here, but with no luck.
There is no “swipe to change spaces” options on the transition menu. I can use the default of the SO, but I could not find a way to make it go up/down, just sideways. This was a great feature from TS2, would love to see it back on TS3.

I second this feedback. I use a 3x3 as well and am often quickly going all over the place, so the little delays can get annoying. Is there anyway to make this nearly instant? TotalSpaces 2 allowed this, but I’m wondering if TS3 is running into some sort of hardware issue

Edit: The following issue occurred because I initially didn’t grant TotalSpaces3 permission to record the screen, and TotalSpaces3 didn’t re-prompt to get permissions or display the necessary permissions and a way to modify them in the settings pane. This is now more of a feature request for the onboarding flow than a bug.

The overview grid isn’t working for me on TotalSpaces3 0.8.114. All desktops show up as blank but they should be showing windows. Restarting TotalSpaces3 and the entire computer doesn’t seem to fix the issue. I’m on a MacBook Air (M1, 2020) running macOS Monterey 12.1.

To workaround this, you can use a tool like http://www.magicprefs.com/ to assign the keyboard shortcut you choose in totalspaces to whichever swipe gesture you like.

There is also better touch tool (which is not free but not very expensive) and manage a lot more option + is actively supported by its developer.
I use those options and it work very well ! (also better with the speed hack)

Tried it for some time and it works great. I also see the half a second delay when switching spaces, with that fixed i’m more than ready to purchase this tool. Thank you for the hard work!
