Can't launch total finder, keeps crashing, reinstall doesn't help

When I open finder trough the doc regular finder opens instead of TotalFinder. If I select new tab from the menu an empty ( grey ) open finder window opens and a a regular finder window opens in the background, If I click the new tab button in the empty total finder window the same things happen. ( see screenshot ) I tried restarting my macbook, reinstalling totalfinder, both have no effect. It seems like total finder is completely broken and there is nothing I can do to fix.

Please Help. I’m using OSX 10.10.2

I had the same problem. My fix is as follows (I hope it works for you):

With TotalFinder closed, open a window in column view.
Open the “View” pulldown at the top of the screen.
Make sure “Show Toolbar” is enabled on all folders you open.
Close your Folders.
Launch TotalFinder and you should be good to go.
