Using High-Sierra with the latest version of TotalFinder.
If you drag a window from the bottom, the Finder window contents rips off of the TotalFinder window frame and is independently dragable.
I’ve recorded a video and will look into how to upload it.
Attempting to upload a 4.1MB .mp4 video produces the following error: “Sorry, the file you are trying to upload is not authorized (authorized extensions: jpg, jpeg, png, gif).” The same video is 66MB as a GIF.
Oh, nice catch! Video is not needed I was just able to reproduce it here.
Now you know secrets of TotalFinder. It glues Finder windows on top of its own “frame” window with tabs. Pssst.

Somehow I already knew this, for years it feels like. Still impressive how well it works.
Always wanted to be able to resize the window frames from the middle in grouped view, so it’s not just perfect 50/50 split.
