Opening a new window creates two "semi-hidden" tabs

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a fresh Finder Window
  2. Open a new window, either by CMD + N or from the File menu.
  3. Result: one window with two tabs with the title only visible half of the height.

I’m using:
Finder version 10.15.2
TotalFinder 1.12.3
Mac OS X 10.15.3

I’ve unchecked “Open folders in tabs instead of windows” in the Finder preferences

I’ve also tried to wipe the preferences (as explained here: https://gist.github.com/darwin/99c2ca7d364e7a3dbe87)

This looks like a resurrection of one very old bug.

I wonder if I could spot something fishy in your setup.
