TotalFinder not working with new install of 10.10.1

I just recently re-installed OS X 10.10.1 and TotalFinder is not working correctly. When I press Cmd + N for a new finder window a TotalFinder window opens up with a single tab that is empty and a regular finder window opens beside it. The same thing happens when I click on the new tab button. Double clicking a drive on the desktop does open a correct TotalFinder window

I should mention that I tried using the last 4 version of TotalFinder to make sure that it wasn’t just something with the latest one.
