TotalFinder 1.15.1 works with macOS 15 Sequoia (so far)

So far TotalFinder worked right after installing the macOS 15 Sequoia beta. I haven’t had time to really test thoroughly, but it’s working at the moment.

Looks like I can’t access TotalFinder’s preferences in Sequoia. Clicking on “TotalFinder” highlights the tap icon, but state on the current tab.

I have same thing, but if you notice that there’s no difference between the Advanced screen and TotalFinder screen. I get TF finder options showing from the Finder pull-down, but no way to get to the TF prefs screen from the Finder pull-down.

I have SIP totally disabled and I’m not getting a loader error. I see TF loaded in Activiy Monitor, so I don’t think it’s the injector.

I am completely addicted to having a colorful Sidebar (complete with my own little custom icons). I am currently on Ventura and afraid to update to Sonoma or Sequoia in case the sidebar icons don’t work with those OS. Since, it looks like akemin_dayo is unfortunately (for us) too busy with her real job (completely understand) to update TotalFinder right now, I am wondering if one of you who has updated to Sonoma or Sequoia, could let me know if the option to show the sidebar icons in color is working on those OS.

I have Sonoma 14.6 (the latest public beta), and they works

Alex1189 Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I am going to brave the upgrade this weekend. Did you just upgrade to Sequoia? Did you have to reinstall TotalFinder? Or did it just work?

mmm to me the cut and paste does not give me any joy (CTRL X and CTRL V)
and i can’t view the preferences menu
i would say not a good bet for me
hoping Binary age will release a 1.15.2 even if is discontinued ,

Using the just released Sequoia

Thanks for developing TotalFinder, it is generally working on macOS Sequoia 15.0, although there are a few glitches.

It is nice to be able to use Command + X and Command + V to manipulate files and directories and move text around. I also like the ability to copy paths and the nice Chrome-like tabs.

Thank you very much.

Are the Colored Labels and Automatic Column Widths features working in Sequoia?

Are the color labels working.
The automatic column width feature is probably working as well.

For example, double-clicking on the right edge of a file name in a column will adjust the column width to match the width of the longest file name.

Thank you @AtelierMirai for confirming the colored labels are working.

The automatic column width is different from what you describe (which is standard Finder behavior). TotalFinder’s auto column width feature applies to Finder windows in Column View and automatically adjusts the width of the column to fit the content without any other action (such as double clicking). Here’s the setting:

It would be great if you could test this on Sequoia.

any one find a way to open TF setting?

I see. Thanks for the explanation of the automatic column width adjustment feature. I do remember seeing it in the settings.

However, as mentioned in Rick_Karrer’s post on June 11, it may be difficult to open the TotalFinder settings.

I am looking forward to future version upgrades (^. ^)

Folks, how have you got TF working on Sequoia. I have updated my Mac and TF doesn´t work/start anymore. I did again - just to get sure - these required settings for M1. But nothing happens when I start TF.

Forget it: I checked all running processes and saw that TF was “dead”. Stopped it there an restarted it. Now its running …but not really working as usual.

TotalFinder is working in my environment (macOS Sequoia 15.0 / Apple M1 Max), although there are some problems.

I have run TotalFinder Uninstaller.app and SIP (System Integrity Protection under macOS 11.0 (Big Sur)). I hope this helps.

Hey everyone, sorry I haven’t added any comments lately, trying to be a test an OS on Apple Silicon via an external drive is a major pain, every time I have a new developer preview to update to, I get an error and it tells me I need to wipe the drive and reinstall from the beginning. I no longer have my Intel testing machine either, and don’t feel compelled to install Sequoia on any of my main machines.

Anyway, anyone having trouble installing, just follow the directions for getting it to install in Sonoma. I think I was able to install it by disabling SIP, and allowing all apps via:
sudo spctl --master-disable

I need to install the latest 15.1 and test though, something may have broke a long the way.

I was still not able to access the TotalFinder settings, last I tested. I would recommend installing TotalFinder on Sonoma, get all your settings in place, then upgrade to Sequoia, and reinstall TotalFinder. It should honor your settings from Sonoma. It did so for me on my Intel test machine.

Also, I agree with another commenter, and really think this should be made an open source project. I’m not a programmer, but if it were open source, I have a feeling people would collaborate and get this up and running again.

Same here. I can not access settings for TF.

I also have the same issue that I had with Sonoma and that is clicking on Finder icon in menu bar does not open a finder window. It works once after restart but not after that.

I’ve been using TF for years primarily for the cut & paste feature. On Sequoia, it no longer works. I can ‘cut’ but not paste into a different folder. No problem accessing anything in Preferences.

Small bug in Sequoia 15.0, when you cut an object Paste shows up as this “N49_V2”, I am still able to paste into folders unlike @Kliter_Semson

Thanks MissBendy. Missed that one but can now also cut & paste again into folders.
